How trash works at a Round Rock apartment community
Round Rock bills an apartment community as a nonresidential customer, the same as a business. City Code § 32-23 lists multi-unit residential complexes among its nonresidential customers.
In November 2021 the City Council made Central Texas Refuse the only commercial refuse hauler in Round Rock, and the other commercial haulers' franchises ended April 30, 2022. The city said the change covered multifamily and apartment accounts. In January 2024 the city announced that Republic Services had acquired Central Texas Refuse, and it now says all commercial garbage and recycling collection is performed by Republic.
Under that contract, the city's contractor supplies the containers, sets the pickup schedule with your property and charges the rates in city code, which include compactor rates.
| Topic | City contract (Republic Services) | RPMTX |
|---|---|---|
| Containers | Supplied by the city's contractor (Code § 32-23) | Lidded container for every unit, no deposit |
| Schedule | Pickup schedule set with your property (§ 32-23) | One to seven times a week, in a window set with your property |
| Pricing | Rates set in city code, including compactor rates (§ 32-33(b)); 10% city license fee passed through | Per-door rate, no setup fee, no fuel surcharge |
How we quote a Round Rock property
Your Republic account stays where it is, and we do not ask you to change it.
We quote every community on its location, existing waste contract and collection needs. The final per-door rate follows a free property walk, where route length, floors and access all factor in.
Austin's composting rules stay out of it. The Universal Recycling Ordinance is Austin city code, so a Round Rock quote is not priced as if it applied.
Send these with your quote request:
- Door count and building type
- Your Republic setup: containers or compactor, and pickup days
- Services per week and the collection time you have in mind
- Your current valet rate and contract end date, if you have one
The standard RPMTX service
Round Rock communities get the same core service as every RPMTX community.
- Our own background-checked, badged employees on every route. We do not subcontract, franchise or staff routes through an agency.
- Collection one to seven times a week, in a window set with your property.
- A door-level email report after every service, with exceptions photographed.
- Compactor area policed every service, included.
- A missed door made right within 24 hours at no charge: collected on the next service, and if that is more than 24 hours away (a weekend or holiday break), the crew comes back within 24 hours. Miss the same unit twice in one billing month and that unit's RPMTX fee for the month is credited on your next invoice.
- Lidded containers for every unit. No setup fee, no fuel surcharge, no container deposit.
- Terms of 12, 24 or 36 months, all three quoted. $2M aggregate general liability, commercial auto and workers' comp.
What it costs
The per-door rate is set after the property walk and steps down as door count rises. Communities typically bill residents $25 to $35 a door for the amenity, and the calculator on our pricing page shows an illustrative spread at your numbers. Already paying another valet provider?
